Vintage Montblanc 254

Semi-Flexible Fine Nib

This is not the actual pen. Image is to demonstrate shape and general appearance of the pen.

Filler Type Piston-filler
Date of Manufacturer 1952-55
Overall Condition Example of an interesting vintage model in Very Good condition.
Nib Correct and perfect original 14C flugelfeder nib ("wing nib") in Fine (F) size (matches filler knob imprint). All imprints are crisp and perfect. Feed is the early flat type.

This nib is a extremely semi-flexible writer.

Cap and Body Very good condition with no cracks or significant scratches. There is light surface wear on the body, while the cap has two small marks and a corporate imprint ("AEG" - a German manufacturing firm), and a small line of brassing on the cap lip band. The clutch ring on the body is brassed, as is the case on every 25x pen that is used. This is due to the pressure cap rubbing the gold-fill off the clutch ring every time the pen is uncapped and/or capped.

This is an early production model, as can be told by the presence of the traditional Montblanc imprint on the cap and the model number imprint on the filler knob.

No pressure cracks in the cap, as is commonly found in this model.

Clear ink window is nearly completely clear.

Additional details

This pen has superb balance and is wonderful to use. This would make a terrific daily writer.

This was the middle model in Montblanc's second price-level product line of the mid- to late-1950s. The 25x line was an attempt to modernize the product line, and utilized Montblanc's first slip-cap design and non-traditionally shaped nib.

Pen is fully functional and ready to use.

Length 13.3 cm closed
